Can you lower your CAC with cappuccino? ā˜• Guillaume "š‘®" Cabane says yes! "G" is one of the best growth experts in the world, when he said this on a 20VC podcast, it caught my attention right away.

I'm constantly trying to level up my #growth strategy and learn from the best. In this new series, I'll be highlighting #growthmarketing stories from world class b2b saas growth, marketing, and product experts.

Guillaume "š‘®" Cabane, co-founder of HyperGrowth shares his craziest growth experiment on the 20VC podcast. While G was at Segment, he used reverse IP to send cappuccinos to website traffic to lock in demo’s for $20.

Okay, interesting...how the heck did he pull that off?

šŸ¤– When a person landed on the website, normal chatbots ask ā€œhow can we help youā€ or "What are you looking for". Something boring and ignorable. Here, G changed the chatbot prompt to ā€œhow do you like your coffeeā€?

It stuck out immediately because it's unexpected, different from the norm, and conversational.

ā˜• The chatbot would ask for your first name and if they could send you a coffee, obviously customized to your exact preferences. Who would say no! While you were waiting for the coffee (delivery via postmates), they would ask ā€œHey do you have 20 min for a demo?ā€ Of course you said yes.

But still - how did they manage this? Segment used the reverse IP and the company HQ info (pre-covid when folks still worked at an office), and the prospects first name. Very innovative and impressive.

What stands out to me:

āœ… break through the clutter with a personalized, unexpected message

āœ… leverage the info you DO have (IP address, company name, visitor first name)

āœ… provide value upfront before asking for anything

šŸ’” The biggest win: a low cost offer that delivers personalized value and literally warms up your prospect before the demo. šŸ†
